The quality of the honey is guaranteed through years-long tradition over which they have obtained enormous experience, something borne out by the many prizes and much recognition that their honey has received for its quality. The entire Balint family take part in bee work. Their main product is extremely high-quality home-grown honey.

This 41-year-old apiarist in possession of a diploma in regional developmental engineering was originally a butcher, and continues to profit from the experience. He can boast a multigeneration beekeeping dynasty; he has been interested in bees since childhood and presently works full time with 200 bee families. He is assisted by his wife Mária, and his 15.-year-old son looks after his own 15 families. He took part in the memorable Brussels demonstration. “You have to become a bit of a bee yourself...

In 1992, 39-year-old András began beekeeping with a single family, and being a joiner he made his first hive himself. On September 20, 2014 the Mecsek Honey Tour awarded him a bronze award for his acacia honey at the honey quality competition at Borjád. He has created a visitor centre at his Vincellér Farm on the edge of Dunaszekcső.

It was in 2005 at my own initiation, beekeeping vocational worker’s certificate in hand, that I embarked on this wonderful activity. As a PE teacher I had decided during my university years that I could only live a full life in proximity with nature. Beekeeping was a good way for this to be realised. For a while I was supervisor of bee health for the region’s apiarists and assisted in beekeeping. There is an increasing demand for honey and propolis direct from the producer.

With 23 years of experience behind him, this 59-year-old apiarist has 26 families. The favourite of this one-time operating engineer is honey made from spring flowers. For a while he occupied himself with bio-beeping, indeed, for a short while he was the leader of the Apiarists’ Association. He has taken part in two World Fairs. He is the regional representative for beekeeping affairs. He teaches trainee apiarists at the labour centre, but also often gives talks in schools. His great dream is to m...

This 31-year-old young man from Vojvodina settled in Hungary in the 1990s. Originally trained for the catering industry, the beekeeper finally settled in Pécs after living in Siófok and Tolna county. Wishing to make a go of chestnut honey, he moved to Pécsvárad, where we find his bee colony. At first he assisted his patron in the care of 150 families, and then formed his own beekeeping concern, at present comprising 69 families. He holds his strongest point to be his neatness, and placed much emp...

This 33-year-old apiarist has been producing honey for 12 years; at present he has 260 families. He is a wholehearted believer in π technology, from which he has profited in beekeeping, making him unique in Hungary in being able to specify bees by species. His prizewinning produce at the Osijek honey contest, honeycomb honey built in the jar, is a rare treat. He is assisted in his work by his family and his wife, Alexandra.

Bees were always around for this 34-year-old from a full-time apiarist family. The third-generation beekeeper has been working with 287 bee families for the past five years. His envisaged visitor centre is a 130 sq. m. building situated on the Gyód wine slope, where he would demonstrate the process of how the honey reaches the jar. There are no bees in situ; he would like to show how the families live using glass hives. Here, as well as demonstrating how the product is packaged, visitors would be...
